DIGIFAB Sign
The DigiFab display sign was my first project at Digital Harbor Foundation, and arguably, my first foray into the “maker” community.
I created the sign at a 3-day hackathon with the help of Darius McCoy, Amiri Williams, Jonathan Prozzi, and Shawn Grimes. In addition to upcycling discarded 3d prints, the sign displayed realtime data from the tech center’s Printrbot farm, equating stats of filament used to more tangible measurements like travel distance or ‘weight in pizzas’.
After three days’ crash course in electronics, laser cutting, 3d printing, and almost no sleep, we won the “Hacker’s Choice” prize for participant favorite! As an initiation into the world of making, this was a pretty head-first dive.
