Assembly instructions
Whether you bought a physical kit or are laser cutting your own at home, these videos show you how to put the entire Book Nook together step-by-step!
Tips for laser cutting
So you got a set of digital Book Nook plans for your laser cutter. Hooray! Here’s a few tips to help you get started:
The kit is designed to be cut on 12x12” sheets of ⅛” plywood. You can buy them pre-cut here or at your local lumber yard. Just make sure they are true ⅛” sheets and not 3mm. You will need 9 sheets for the blank kit or 13 for the closet. If your laser cutter bed is smaller than 12” (like a Glowforge) shoot me a message on Etsy and I can send you a different part arrangement that will fit your machine.
SCALE IS CRUCIAL to your parts fitting correctly. Some laser software has a tendency to resize files when you import them. Before you cut, double check the sizing imported correctly to your laser. Make sure to select INCHES as the unit of measurement and 1:1 scale. One way to be sure is to check the dimensions of a part! For reference, Right Cover should be exactly 9.125” x 9.125”. Message me if you’re having trouble! I’ve worked with a lot of laser cutters in my day and can help walk you through it.
All paths are vectors and should be set to CUT not raster engrave. Paths in red should be set to cut completely through the material. Paths in blue should be set to cut very lightly, only on the surface of the plywood. (Suggested 15-20% power and high speed). Refer to your laser cutter manual for 1/8“ plywood cut settings.
The kit is customized to fit specific hardware components and electronics. The exact parts that fit this kit can be found here. There’s also a full parts list with links in the section below.
If you’re having any trouble at all with the files, send me a message via Etsy here. For questions regarding laser cutting or speed/power settings, contact your machine manufacturer.
